milestones in the development of the Lutheran Church in
Devonport, Tasmania. |

MINISTRY MILESTONES |
 |
1949 - Visiting ministers from mainland
Australia began conducting Lutheran services on a semi-regular
basis in Hobart, with occasional visits to the North West
coast region. |
 |
1952 - A resident minister was
appointed to live in Hobart and serve Lutherans in the
whole of Tasmania. Services were conducted monthly in the
homes of mainly immigrant Lutherans from Europe, living

Launceston and the North West coast was established.

 |
2004 - With rising costs and many
younger members leaving the area to pursue wider
employment opportunities elsewhere, the decision was made
to re-amalgamate with the Launceston Lutheran

northern Tasmania Lutheran congregations. A parish
encompasing the Launceston, Burnie and Devonport
