 How to Get There |
 |
From
Launceston Centre - Be aware that many of the CBD
streets are one way. Locate St Johns Street (basically running North-South) which is two
way. Travel about 1 km from the city centre (Myer / Brisbane St Mall corner) in a
southerly direction along this to the junction at its southern end. The church is the red
brick building on the left, at the very end of the street on the corner of St John and
Frankland Streets. |
 |
From North
of Launceston - Entry will be either via the
East or West Tamar Highways. The West Tamar Hwy leads onto Brisbane St. If entering this
way, turn right into Wellington St at the Brisbane - Wellington St intersection (sign
posted "Hobart, Burnie"). The East Tamar Hwy leads into Wellington St. If
entering this way, continue along Wellington St in the left lane. About 0.9 km from the
Brisbane - Wellington St intersection, turn left into a small side street called Frankland
St. Continue for about half a kilometre to the junction with St John Street. The last 250
metre or so is a narrow lane. The church is the red brick building on the left. |
 |
From South
of Launceston - Entry will be via the Southern
Outlet. The final approach is down a long hill overlooking the city in the valley. At the
bottom of the hill merge into the right lane when safe to do so. At the first set of
traffic lights (soon after passing the 80 kph speed signs), turn right into Howick St.
Cross the next traffic light controlled intersection. Turn left into Charles St at the
next junction on the left (marked with blue "Emergency" signs). At the next
intersection, turn right into Frankland St. This becomes a narrow lane. About 250 metres
after turning onto Frankland St, the church is the red brick building on the left on the
corner of St John and Frankland Streets. The distance to the church is about 1 km after
turning off the Southern Outlet into Howick St. |
 |
From
East of Launceston - Entry into Launceston will
normally be via the Tasman Hwy. Follow the signs to the centre of Launceston. Locate St
John Street, and follow the directions above from the centre of Launceston. Alternatively
at the end of the long, gentle, sweeping left bend where Elphin Rd merges into Brisbane St
(opposite east end of City Park), exit via the sharp left switch back marked "To High
St". Continue along High St, turning right into Balfour St, then left into St John
Street. |
 |
From
West of Launceston - Generally the approach to
Launceston from the west will be via the Bass Highway. Follow this to the end, taking the
exit marked "Launceston" onto the Southern Outlet going into the city. Follow
the directions above for entry from south of the city. |
