Lutheran Beliefs Return to LCA Tas Home Page
Lutherans Believe that God created the universe in which we live, and that he created human beings as the crown of creation and as a moral being for a life of joyous worship and service of God. (Isaiah 43:7; Psalm 100)
Lutherans Believe that man turned his back on God's will and purpose, and in his rebellious and sinful condition stands helpless and hopeless under the judgement of God. (Romans 3:12,23)
Lutherans Believe that God gave his Son, Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of all people, and that the Good News of his love in Christ is for all people. (John 3:16; Romans 3:24)
Lutherans Believe that everyone who, by the working of the Holy Spirit, accepts in personal faith what Jesus Christ has provided by his death on Calvary's cross and by his resurrection, receives free forgiveness from God, and through Holy Baptism becomes a child of God and a member of his Church. (Acts 16:31; Romans 2:22)
Lutherans Believe that God has revealed the eternal truth to man in his inspired, inerrant Word, the Bible; and that the Scriptures alone are the basis of the Christian faith. (2 Timothy 3:15-17; John 17:17)
Lutherans Believe that people who despise God's offer of loving forgiveness and salvation in Christ bring on their own heads the judgement of hell. They separate themselves from the living God in whom they are meant to find their true life and highest joy. (John 3:17,18; Matthew 23:37)
Lutherans Believe that Christ strengthens the faith of his people (the church) through the Lord’s Supper, which is the gift of Christ’s real presence in the believer (Matthew 26:26-19)
