People At Casey

An attempt to take a monochrome slide of the 25 people at Casey in March 1972 just before Senior Plant Inspector Roy Waring (second row up facing to his left) was to be picked up by helicopter and returned to Australia.   In mid-February he was seriously injured in a tractor accident (broken leg, smashed foot). The Nella Dan was on its way from Mawson back to Australia with the wintering party from that station. The Senior Plant Inspector from Mawson, Ray Mitchell, had volunteered to spend another year in Antarctica (without break) to take Roy's place.

One of the problems faced in Antarctica is that of going outside when it is a little cold. This is the result of Graham Henstridge spending a few minutes outside in the wind.

A group of people getting ready to photograph something. (I cannot remember what!)

Murray Price - the Casey Official Cameraman for 1972 hard at work. When not doing this, he was our plumber.

An interesting shot of a few of us looking at a sunset. Yes, that is a dog - Suzie. This was before they decided that all dogs must leave Antarctica.
