Problem Gambling

If you, or someone you know, needs to reduce or quit gambling, then you may find the information on these pages helpful. You can choose any of the topics on the left, or use the 'Back' and 'Next' buttons below to navigate through all the pages. If you think you may have a problem seek help as soon as possible.

For most people, gambling is an enjoyable form of entertainment. Sadly, what may begin as harmless entertainment may become a serious problem with devastating consequences.

Problem gambling is also know as compulsive gambling, excessive gambling, pathological gambling, and troubled gambling and is often

thought of as an addiction, not unlike alcohol and drug problems. Problems with gambling range from one off incidents of over spending to long term habitual gambling behavior.

Help is available in many areas in the form of professional counselling, self help groups, and mental health professionals. The information, tips and practical ideas presented here can help gamblers, their families and helping professionals alike. If you believe that you, or someone you know, has a gambling problem: get started on solving it right away.

While the information presented here is helpful, it is not a substitute for professional counselling, or the support offered by self-help organisations.
