Review of Success

Remember:
Nothing succeeds like success. When you succeed, remember what you did and do it again! The following questions can help you to identify what you did that worked:
  • How many of the following did you have today in total:
    1. alcoholic drinks?
    2. cigarettes?
    3. tea, coffee, coke etc?
    4. other(drugs)?
  • What could you have done today that may have lead to gambling?
  • What were you doing instead?
  • What thoughts helped you not to gamble?
  • What feeling did you have that helped?
  • What feelings did you have today that made you think of gambling and how did you handle them?
  • What things did you say to yourself that helped?
  • What activities did you do that helped?
  • How do you feel about yourself having achieved some success?

Consider all the things you felt, thought and said to yourself. Pick out the ones that helped you to achieve your goal.

Maintain the changes you have made. If you do have a slip it is important to have an action plan to minimise the negative effects and use the information you gain.
