MINING HAUL ROAD

April 1999 was a very wet month, with 640 mm of rain falling.  A sequence of particularly heavy rainfall days caused significant water damage to one of GEMCO's main haul roads.  The "cut" shown is approximately 30 metres wide and 6 metres deep.  It happened about 30 metres from where the water normally flows under the road, through two large culverts.
