JAGGED HEAD

A trip to Jagged Head provides a cross-section of all of Groote Eylandt's natural features.  Once there, shade trees provide picnic and camping spots.  This photo shows one such spot, with Jagged Head itself visible across the water.

Jagged Head is a large rocky outcrop, connected to the mainland by a sand spit and is accessible by foot, depending on the tide.  The walk is well worthwhile.  Take some drinking water and your snorkelling gear.   There are beautiful white sandy beaches and interesting rocks and reefs to explore in the water.

On land you'll find caves and old water-courses, pandanus and open grassy areas.  In case you haven't caught on, this web author thinks Jagged Head is a particularly beautiful and interesting place!
