Edward River is reached via a four wheel drive track through very attractive and varied bush.  It is an interesting destination for a "drive and explore" outing.  From the crossing at Edward River, shown on the map, the mouth of the river and Tamarind Beach can also be reached.

After Wet season rains there are a number of swampy areas that may restrict access. Between the crossing and the river mouth the river is thickly lined with mangroves and would be likely to be well populated with crocodiles (and fish). It is therefore not recommended that you swim or picnic next to the river below the crossing!

Upriver from the crossing, an excellent walk up the spectacular Edward River Gorge can be taken from a separate side track, as shown on the map (turnoff at approximately 9.8 kilometres from Alyangula).

Respect the area and take any rubbish home with you.
