BOUGAINVILLEA

Bougainvilleas thrive on our tropical island.   This is the common purple variety, but many other colours are also common, including red, peach and white.    Most plants have vicious spines, but their colourful displays more than compensate.

The colour is actually from the leaves.   The tiny white flowers form the centre of a cluster of those leaves.

This bougainvillea is in my own garden.
