Civilization 3

Sid Meier's Civilization 2 was released in 1996 by Microprose as a sequel to Sid Meier's Civilization.  It boasted new graphics and a new interface.  Combat changed with the addition of hit points and firepower, as well as special combat cases.  Civ 2 came with new units, city improvements and Wonders of the World.  The Fundamentalism Government type was added.  The concept of reputation was introduced, punishing players for not keeping their treaties.  And finally, in addition to the two diplomatic states of Peace and War, three more were added.  These were neutral (ie. no formal treaty but not at war), Cease-fire (temporary version of peace treaty) and Military Alliance.

Sid Meier's Civilization 2 was a brilliant success (just like Civilization) and continues the legacy of great turn-based empire building games.
