The Latrobe Federal Band in conjunction with the Tasmanian Bands League wish to present the 2005 State Brass Band Championships at Latrobe. This annual event, covering the weekend of the 15th and 16th of October 2005 will showcase the best Brass and Concert Bands Tasmania has to offer.
A highlight of the weekend will be the performance from the highly acclaimed Derwent Valley Concert Band, known for their recent tour of Denmark.
Each band will compete in their own grade playing four stage items, with the Brass Bands performing a street march down the main street of Latrobe on the Sunday, an event not to be missed.
The Event will be held at the Latrobe Memorial Hall daily from 8:00am to 4:00pm, admission being $5 for adults and $3 concessions per day. Light food and refreshments will be available from the hall daily.
The Latrobe Federal Band which is pleased to be organising the event this year will compete in the C Grade section with their new conductor Carolyn Cross. Carolyn who has taken on the task to conduct the senior band as well as run the junior development program has brought to the band a wealth of experience gained from many years of teaching music both through the schools system and the private sector.
The brass band movement in Tasmania has a long and successful tradition with many brass and concert bands successfully competing each year in Tasmania and nationally.
