CANON JIM GLENNON
Jim Glennon was born in Sydney and educated at Randwick High School, Moore Theological College and the University of Sydney. After ordination in the Anglican Church in 1951 and serving two curacies, he went to England where he was on the staff of the Parish Church of Birmingham, St. Martin's in the Bull Ring.
Following this, he was for a time at St. Augustine's College Canterbury, the Central College of the Anglican Communion and then returned to Sydney in 1955. At this time he qualified as a Social Worker at Sydney University, specializing in casework and psycho-social development of children.
Then, for seven years he taught Pastoral Method at Moore Theological College and supervised senior theological
students in clinical pastoral education in Sydney hospitals.
In 1960 Jim Glennon became involved in the Healing Ministry of the Church, initially through reading Agnes Sanford's book, "The Healing Light". He said, "I came to see that our Lord healed today in the same way as He healed in the days of His earthly ministry because He is the same now as then."
In 1988 he completed 33 years on the staff of St. Andrew's Cathedral having been responsible for a weekly service of Divine Healing for 28 years. The Cathedral Healing Service is reputed to be the largest healing ministry in the Anglican Communion. It is noted for its emphasis on the ministry of all believers and for the pastoral care that is shown to the individuals in need. Canon Glennon is an experienced missioner and has conducted teaching missions on the Healing Ministry throughout Australia and New Zealand and has visited the United Kingdom and the United States in this connection.
He is the author of "Your Healing is Within You," which has sold 100,000 copies. His second book, "How Can I Find Healing?" was published in 1984 also by Hodder and Stoughton. Both books have been published by Bridge Publishing in the United States.
In a message to mark the retirement of Canon Glennon in June, 1988, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Robert Runcie, wrote in part, "For 28 years Canon Glennon has been engaged in the Healing Ministry, and there are thousands of people who will be grateful for what he has brought to them. Jim Glennon has shown that healing lies at the heart of the Christian gospel, for true healing is intimately related to wholeness."

Saint Peregrine, Patron Saint of victims of cancer, AIDS, and other life-threatening diseases.
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Every day I need you Lord, but this day specially
I need some extra strength to face whatever is to
be ... This day more than any other day I need to feel You near -
to fortify my courage and to overcome my fear.
By myself I cannot meet the challenge of the hour.
There are times when human creatures need a higher Power -
to help them bear what must be borne. And
so, dear Lord, I pray - hold on to my trembling hand
and be with me today.
- Attributed to Pope John XXIII
While we pray earnestly for a cure of a person's illness, if that is to be God's will, we recognise that healing can take many forms, including an improvement in a person's spiritual well-being, even perhaps an improvement in their relationships with other people and among family members.
