For referring practitioners, the conditions I am most expert in treating, and therefore for which referrals to me are most appropriate, are as follows:

Achilles, patellar, hamstring and other tendinopathies

Groin injuries (e.g. adductor tendinopathy, sports hernia)

Iliotibial band friction syndrome (I have had this on both legs!)

Other running and sprinting injuries (I am a distance runner)

Plantar fasciitis

Hamstring and other muscle strains

Pre-surgical opinion for ACL injuries

Tennis elbow and rotator cuff tendinopathies

Cortisone, Aprotinin injections, Shock wave therapy for tendon disorders

If you have been reading the other material on this website and the injuryupdate site, you would have probably gathered that these are my topics of interest!

Most of my research is posted at: Injuryupdate research page

Please look at the Information for patients section for further details.

Unfortunately, sports physicians are in a similar predicament to GPs with respect to ordering of MRI scans, in that referral for MRI scan is legal but no Medicare rebate applies.
