LONGCHEN OSEL LING

LAND OF LUMINOUS VAST EXPANSE

As the Lama of the Odiyana Centre, it has been a dream of David’s to have a space we can all use to expand our spirits and hearts, a place that is quiet and inspiring, a place that is spacious, beautiful and pure.
This is such a place.

The Land:

Odiyana has purchased 63 acres of pristine land, with views to Wilson’s Promontory, less than two hours drive from Melbourne. The land is very spacious with rolling hills, and features three spring fed dams, and a fern-lined creek bordering the property. It is 10 mins. drive to Foster, and approximately 30 mins. drive to the Prom.

Development of Land:

Stage 1:     Grade driveway
Install self-composting toilet
Plant trees for windbreaks and to attract native wildlife
Connect pumps/taps to springs to access pure water
Build storage shed
Connect electricity to the property

Stage 2:    Design and building of meditation hall
Building of kitchen and shower facilities

Stage 3:    Build houses for Lama and caretakers
    Build retreat cabins

Vision for Odiyana Centre:

The vision for the retreat centre is to be as self-sufficient as possible, keeping costs to ourselves and the environment to a minimum;
    - growing organic fruits, vegetables and nuts, and composting waste.
    - using second-hand and natural materials where possible in the design of buildings.
    - harness the natural energies of solar and wind power,

This will be a space where we can come together to practice as vajra brothers and sisters. It will be a place where we can invite other Lamas from around the world to come and teach, a place for solitary retreats, and a project we can all contribute to in many different ways.

Ideas for near future:

City weekend meditation retreats
Healing retreats incorporating meditation, yoga, massage, Reiki, facials and organic food
Opportunity for students to practice together regularly
Rooms for residents and for healing practices

All ideas for the growth and support of the Odiyana Centre and Longchen Osel Ling are welcome. Please share with us your knowledge and skills. Among us there are artists, gardeners, cooks, lawyers, healers, labourers, teachers etc. We are diverse in age and personality, and are brought together by our connection to the truth of Dharma.
