The Mingara May Major was another victory for the "young guns" with 19 year old Illia Zvedeniouk taking 1st Place undefeated, closely followed by 12 year old Max Illlingworth. Jason Chan and Mos Ali tied for third place. Top seeds Lee Jones FM and Ilija Ilic finished out of the money. The dreaded mobile phone rule came into effect when Vaness Reid forgot to turn off her phone and was forfeited in round 5. Numbers were down on last years entries but there was still 15 prize winners in a field of 33, not a bad ratio. The tournament was directed ably by Brian Jones as usual. A lightning tournament was held on the Saturday night with Ilija Illic winning on 5.5/7,closley followed by Illia Zvedeniouk and Trent Parker on 5/7.
