Mingara May Major 2004
Kerry Stead has won the
Mingara May Major for the second time, he last won first prize in the tournament
in 2002. Kerry continued his undefeated efforts at Mingara with 5.5 points from
6 games dropping only half a point to Mosaddeque Ali. Second place getter
Mingara's Clint Daniel was also undefeated with 4 wins and 2 draws Alex Mendes
da Costa shared second place losing only to Kerry Stead. Anthony Keuning won the
under 1800 prize Sebastian Jurd, won the under18 junior prize and
shared second under 1800 and with Jason Williams. The under 1600
prize was won by Norm Greenwood, second under 1600 went to Gary Losh. The under
1400 section was won by Canberra junior Jesse Macguire and second under 1400
went to another Canberra junior Mathew Beltrami. The Under 1200 prize went to
blind player Alex Momot. The unrated prize was won by Mingara Player Branko
Santrac. The under 14 junior prize was shared by Max Illingworth and Benjamin
Harris. Tournament play ran smoothly due to the able directing by Brian Jones.
Second place getter Clint Daniel says his game against Rebecca Harris was his
best game of the tournament.
