6-7 April 1996

The First Australian Narrow Gauge Convention was held in Heathmont, in the eastern suburbs some 25km (16m) from Melbourne.  It was hosted by the Croydon Narrow Gauge Group (CNGG) & friends.

The convention included the launch of Australia’s own narrow gauge magazine, Narrow Gauge Downunder.

Read about our first convention: how was it conceived, and why did the CNGG elect to host the inaugural event?
