MEETINGS: Second Tuesday of each month from 7 – 9 pm, Shortland Wetland Centre, Shortland. Society news, have a guest
speaker, and then an opportunity for members to chat.

MAGAZINE: “SOFAR”, quarterly, interesting information about frogs and reptiles and
OCCASIONAL PUBLICATION: Information leaflets on topics of interest included in magazine subscription.
FIELD TRIPS: We hold several trips a year some with camping.
CAPTIVE REARING: Frogs and reptiles as pets or in the home pond, within National Parks and Wildlife Service
guidelines, and particularly captive breading.
FROG & REPTILE RESCUE: Helping displaced and injured animals.
SOFAR
Supports Community Participation and Education- Encouraging community participation in frog and reptile conservation projects.
- Providing a forum to disseminate and promote the sharing of information regarding the biology and conservation of
frogs and reptiles.
- Educational programs encouraging the conservation of frogs and reptiles.
- Refuges for Endangered Frogs and Reptiles.
- Encouraging legislation giving enthusiastic and experienced keepers license to maintain endangered species.
- Establishing a data recording the kinship of captive animals to minimise inbreeding.
- Providing a means of communication between keepers of facilities exchange of animals and husbandry information.
- Conservation and habitat restoration of Wildlife Populations.
- Implementation of protection regulations for frogs and reptiles.
- Encourage rehabilitation in previously inhabited ranges through habitat restoration and restocking.
- Alleviation of threats partially exotic pest, disease and habitat degeneration.
