Cornish Engine House Images, Cordoba, Spain
I am grateful to Spanish geologist, Antonio Cabrera. for sharing these photos and kindly giving me permission to put them up on this page.
Subsequently, I haven't spent a great deal of time searching for information on the various mines involved. IA Recordings has a video for sale of a visit by the Mining Heritage Trust of Ireland to Andalucia in April 2004. The BOCAMINA web site has a wealth of photographs of Spanish headframes.
The Proyecto Arrayanes web-site is also well worth a visit and focuses particularly on the old mines of the Linares district.
The interested reader may like to visit the web-site of AMYP (ASOCIACIÓN DE MUSEOS, GRUPOS Y COLECCIONES DE MINERALOGÍA Y PALEONTOLOGÍA) which includes numerous mining photographs from Spain.

At far left, the pumping engine house of Terreras mine in the Los Pedroches Valley, in the province of Cordoba in Andalusia, southern Spain. The house appears to be constructed of a variety of 'flaggy' sedimentary rocks with window arches lined with brick. There are a few references to Terreras mine on the web, all in Spanish. Left, the bob wall of the pumping Engine House at Las Morras del Cuzna Mine in the Los Pedroches Valley, Cordoba, Andalucia, Spain. |
