The OLF Parish Caring Group
The OLF Caring Group aims to reach out with care and
compassion to support those in need. Their work includes:
- Visitation of the elderly and sick in their homes,
hospitals and nursing homes.
- Providing practical support for the housebound.
Following-up in a supportive way the families of
those recently bereaved. This includes inviting them
to morning tea after Mass. These functions are held
quarterly.
- Providing the opportunity for frail, aged or sick persons to be anointed at midday mass (last Friday of the month) or by alternative arrangement.
- Organising an Annual Mass for bereaved families
of the Parish in November each year.
- Organising a Christmas luncheon each November for
senior parishioners.
It is recognised that throughout the Parish people
are going out and about and in their own quiet way showing
support and kindness to those around them in need. Their
hands are an extension of Jesus' hands reaching out
to others. To belong to the Caring Group is to do this work in a structured way.
