Beechworth Show Report 2003
Held on 19 April 2003 by The North East Bottle Club, great show, run in conjunction with the local Beechworth Historical Festival.
Again this was a top country show, this was a competative show this year. I was honered to be invited as a Judge this year along with Russell Dunn of 'The Antique Bottle & Collectables Review ' and David Bruce a renowned ex-local collector.
The competition was strong especially in the Local Collections and in Patent Aerated Waters, there were around 60 displays on show and the bottle displays out numbered the collectables 10/1 which is good as I feel the collectables are really starting to creep in at the Bottles shows.
It was a long trip for both Toby and I as we left at 3:30am and got home at 8:00pm that night, big day. I picked up a few great items for my own collection including a 'Fletchers' Phenyle from Warnambool.
I had one interesting item shown to me at this show, it was a 'H.S.Keir Glenrowan' codd bottle, unfortunatly it had no top, which had been dug localy. This is an unnkown Codd and the first embossed bottle from 'Glenrowan' which is the town of Ned Kelly's last Stand.
