Writing, editing, and publishing fees

For substantive work I charge $A65 per hour plus materials and I will provide a provisional estimate of your total project cost. A common rule of thumb is to expect to pay about $65 per page. My minimum project fee is $140. Substantive work includes

Writing, re-writing, copyediting, desktop publishing, project developing, project managing, researching, difficult proofreading.

Simple proofreading and copyediting is $55 per hour, 1 hour minimum. Simple proofreading and editing includes

Advertisements, labels, captions, flyers, and copy prepared by professional writers or agencies.

For meetings and administration, I charge $55 per hour. Travel charges, if any, depend on distance and degree of difficulty.

Short initial consultations are free.

For the sake of good grammar, I give discounts to non-profit organisations and will consider barter arrangements with other professionals, galleries, artists, and tradespeople.

Course materials and fees

Course fees are negotiable, depending on the size of your organisation and whether or not it is a non-profit. Workshops are designed for 8 to 12 students, 15 students maximum. They can run for 8 to 10 weeks, 2 hours each session, or as 2 half-day sessions. I need a well-lit room with table space for myself and each student. A white/blackboard is essential and an overhead projector would be handy. Depending on fee structure, I will either supply worksheets or make them available for purchase or photocopying. In most cases, I can offer Principles of Clear and Direct Style with a money-back guarantee.

Private tuition is $65 per hour.
