Communal Reconciliation: 7.30pm, Monday 10th March.
(Please Take This Home and read it as your preparation)
For this sacrament)
You have the opportunity to celebrate the sacrament of Penance, on Monday night 10th March, at 7.30 PM. You may approach any priest. You may wish to say something like, this “I am sorry for all my sins and ask forgiveness especially for ……, make a brief, simple statement for which you seek forgiveness.
Private confession is one of the pillars of the spiritual life.

“You are as sick as your sickest secret!” That’s an axiom popular among people in 12 step programs. They know that until one faces oneself, in searing honesty, before another human being and acknowledges openly his or her sins, there will always be addictions, rationalizations, and lack of transparency. This is a pivotal and non-negotiable step in every 12-step program. Without it, at a certain point, all real growth stops.

The church has always had its own version of this step. We call it confession, the sacrament of reconciliation. Fewer people are going to confession these days. This is an unfortunate development because private confession is one of the pillars of the spiritual life. At a certain point in one’s growth, there is no progress without it. The critics of the sacrament of reconciliation are right in saying that God is not tied to one vehicle as an avenue for the forgiveness of sins. They are wrong, however, when they denigrate the importance of a good private confession.

Simply put, confession is the sacrament of the mature, and one grows mature by confessing one’s sins. One may not need to confess one’s sins explicitly to another human being in order to have them forgiven; but one does have to confess them explicitly if he or she hopes to live a transparent life, free of dark skeletons in the closet, and to make progress in the spiritual life.

The Chrism Mass for the blessing of our sacred oils will take place in St Steven’s Cathedral on Thursday 13th March,7.30pm
The Archbishop invites as many parishioners as possible to take part in this great celebration .All will be welcomed at the Cathedral.

Very URGENT NEED of more Eucharistic Ministers for home visitations and for children to serve on the Altar.
BRIZ STAY

St Vincent de Paul

Report from St. Michaels Saint Vincent de Paul

On behalf of St. Vincent de Paul I would like to thank all Parishioners for their very generous donations towards the Christmas hampers.

We will be distributing these Hampers over this pre Christmas period.

From January 05 until 20th of December we received a total of  $1885.45 in donations from you very generous people, our expenditure was $1770.25 made up of 59 food vouchers for 177 people.

As you know we service Ronald McDonald house at Herston and that is a very heartbreaking undertaking there aren't a lot of happy outcomes there. It is our biggest work load.
So on behalf of your local conference I thank you most sincerely and God Bless you each and every one
