PEEKAY-CAD

Configuration

2.1 Installation.
Install AutoCAD® onto your hard disk, according to the AutoCAD® "Installation and Performance Guide", in "C" drive into a directory called "Program Files\AutoCAD R14".
2.2 Starting AutoCAD®.
Create a desktop shortcut for AutoCAD® in the working directory e.g. "C:\DRAWINGS" (not the directory that houses programs, this makes upgrades easier).
2.3 AutoCAD® Configuration.
2.3.1 The configuration of AutoCAD® is done through the Preferences dialogue box and can be changed at any time. If AutoCAD® has not already been configured then follow the configuration process as requested.
2.3.2 The Video Display must have a black background and the command prompt and status areas displayed but it is not necessary to have the Screen Menu displayed.
2.3.3 While still in Preferences select "Files" then "Support Files Search Path" add "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD R14\Bonus\Cadtools" and "C:\PKAY" then select the correct directory for the template file location. Multiple templates can be created for different purposes.
2.3.4 To create the template file make the drawing to suit, or use "PKAYR14.DWG" supplied (refer section 3.1). Before saving change the variable "Useri1" to zero then using Saveas select template file type and save to the AutoCAD® template directory as defined in Preferences. This would be good time to configure the Pointing Device and the Printer.
2.3.5 To change the cross-hairs size use the pointer tab of Preferences.
2.3.6 Set an Autosave time to make sure your work is saved on a regular basis. Use the saved file to recover your work in case of computer malfunction.
2.3.7 Set current menu, by typing "MENU" at the command prompt then typing "C:\PKAY\PBASE3.MNU". This needs only to be once. From then on menus can be chosen from the pull-down section. Use large buttons for the Toolbars.
2.4 Multiple Configurations.
Multiple configurations can exist for different hardware. This is done by setting "ACADCFG" to equal other directories and configuring AutoCAD®, each time, in that directory. Before you start AutoCAD® set "ACADCFG" to equal the directory you want for the particular hardware you are using. Alternatively this function can now point to a file, the file selection changed in Preferences.
2.5 Other Configuration.
The "ACAD.LSP" file contains other setup information and can be changed if the source file has been provided.
