RETURN TO DIARY

Broome is a time for us to sit back and enjoy life, no stress, no travel, no hassles. In a month we have travelled less than 300 kms, visits to Cable Beach and shopping being the main destinations.

Sandy is catching up on the sun she has missed out on for so long, visiting the beach every second day swimming and sunbaking.

Sandy has also started making some jewellery (with a little help from me), the first piece a pendant. This incorporates, as the centrepiece, the very first gold nugget I found with our new detector a few years ago in Victoria. I made the silver necklace to attach to Sandy's pendant.

Now Sandy is working on a ring with a cubic zirconia set into it.
I have also made a pendant for Sandy to wear, with the sapphire I found on my 50th birthday set into it.

Pat has been running an art class in the caravan park since June and I joined in soon after I arrived, a very friendly crowd.

My first lesson was to do some paintings using scrunched plastic wrapping and old credit cards. We were not allowed to use brushes. See below "Forest", "Forest Floor" and Flowers. I also incorporated this technique into "Staircase" and the set of 3 paintings "Pearl Lugger beyond Cable Beach". Last week the painting classes culminated in an exhibition and sale of the works produced by this talented group of artists.

I managed to sell three of my paintings along with some hand painted cards I made for fun. The proceeds from the sale of my paintings paid for a lovely meal at the Black Pearl for us both the next day. All the students met at the restaurant as a farewell to fellow artists and a thank you to Pat for the help and instruction she happily gave.

The SHINJU MATSURI Festival of the Pearl starts next month so I will let you know how it goes.

In Broome

Stay safe, Peter and Sandy.
