The evolution of the present human race took a very, very long time. In the most early phase the beings of the frst root race were aware of their divine origin in a blissful state incomprehensible to us. They lived for thousands of years in a shadowy spherical form of rarified ethereal matter, and according to Rudolph Steiner inside the body of the planet which itself was also of the same rarified substance. In the course of time they reproduced by exuding buds which when separated became a duplicate of the parent, which made them virtually immortal. After eons of time another stage developed, and the exuded buds developed a hard shell left to mature in the sun a number of years before emerging. The separation of the sexes was much later, and it was during this time that reproduction occurred with certain animal forms resulting in the simian species of today. This is in direct contradiction to Darwin's theory and explains why no specimens of a missing link are to be found. The present physical form is not much different from then but was considerably larger. In those early days there was a third eye, but as conditions became less spiritual and more materialistic it became hidden, so that now it is latent in man only to be awakened by specific exercises which are lengthy and arduous.It is possible to associate the different root races with the various globes and rounds in the long journey through the evolutionary cycles.
