THE  PROMETHEUS  MYTH  AND  A  LITTLE   EXERCISE  IN  HERESY

From time to time I have included in my lectures metaphysical references in the Greek Myths and this one directly concerns the introduction of "manas"(mind) into humanity. It is noteworthy that esoterically "Mind is Fiery"and is particularly relevant in this context.In this sense by indulging in speculative philosophy and metaphysics we are playing with Fire !

The name Prometheus means "Far-seeing ", it is synonymous with Lucifer in respect to the introduction of Fire, derived from the latin "lux and ferre", and so therefore- "Lightbearer". This may be a bit of a shock to church-goers who have been brought up to think of it meaning the devil, but this is an unfortunate misconception in biblical translations. The term Lucifer is also the same as The Demiurge of Theosophy and is that Force from the manifesting of the Trinity as the Primal Energy of Creation, otherwise known as Brahma. The War in Heaven is an allegorical theme of the "conflict" of Spirit with Matter,which is the same as the Polarisation implicit in Duality. That is the first level of the Myth. The second level is the introduction of mind into ancient man in the Lemurian Phase about eighteen million years ago.The Swastika is a very old symbol of Evolutionary Force and Fire; it is also Thor's Hammer by which" sparks" were struck at the "Fiat Create"in the diaspora of the monads.It can be seen as a symbol of the Fire of "Manas," Mind being the instrument of Creation and Evolution.

The early root races of mankind were shadowy creatures, highly spiritual and long-lived but not having the gift of mind and a sense of indiviuality. According to the the most ancient tradition the most highly evolved beings transferred to the earth from the moon chain in an early attempt to further the evolution of these "men", but they were unable to supply the faculty of mind as we know it. To compensate for this failure Spirit Beings came from the Venusian chain; their group name was" Prometheus". Note that the concept of" mind " in the metaphysical sense is "fiery ".Thinking, therefore, is playing with fire ,"wrong thoughts"i.e. negative thought can never have a positive effect. It is a very profound concept.

The idea of vultures eating the liver of Prometheus chained to a rock is interpreted as being imprisoned on earth and subject to the desires and conflicts which plague humanity.

It is worth meantioning, that the influx of Venusian influence is in the Old Testament but in the sense of a genetic input, ("The women of earth were seen to be fair,"Genesis ch.6.v.2.)

The Swastika which is commonly associated with Hitler and Nazism was reversed in the anti-clockwise (sunwise is clockwise) direction signifying the idea of stasis and opposed to any change and evolution, a truly negative and perversion of an ancient and sacred symbol. Hitler was fascinated by the occult and a willing tool of the dark forces.This is described in a book called "The Spear of Destiny" by Tevor Ravenscroft and is recommended.

Esoteric Interpretation of Fairy Tales

Whilst digressing into the metaphysics of mythology there are spiritual nuances to be found in children's fairy stories.The Sleeping Beauty awakened by the Prince is an allegory of the Lower Self being roused into awareness of the Higher Self. We are all asleep in the spiritual sense. Similar themes are to be found in "Snow White", "Beauty and The Beast", amd "The Frog Prince".There are many things in folk-lore reflecting the totality of human history and contained in the racial subconsciousness.
