Like most people, I was brainwashed into believing that Christianity
was the only "true" religion and that anyone who didn't
adhere to it was going to hell. My parents made me go to church
during my teens. Truthfully, I never liked going. I hated
the chruch's hypocrisy, the way they treated non-christians
and homosexuals. I got "saved" when I was fourteen
because my mother kept badgering me to do so. She repeatedly
told me I was going to go to hell if I didn't get saved. (This
was hurtful psychologically.) Anway, as I got older I strayed
from the church though I did not deconvert at the time. I'm
22 now and have done some extensive research into the true origins
of Christianity and the bible. Here are some of the reasons
that caused me to deconvert:
- The evil morality
of god. I don't know of any other way to say it. He degraded
women, forced women to marry their rapists, sanctioned slavery
and the beating of slaves, GENERATED evil, lied, broke all of
his own commandments, sent lying spirits to deceive people and
so on. He told his people to "show no mercy" when
they were engaged in battle, and encouraged plundering (stealing).
He also butchered people indiscrimanetly, young and old alike.
He also slaughtered children left and right. How Christians
can say that god is against abortion is beyond me. God sure
as hell did an awful lot of killing.
- The forgeries
of the early Christian Church. The church forged almost the
entire New Testament. They've tampered with the text to make
it read exactly what they wanted it to read so that they could
control the masses. Then, they had the audacity to brutally
murder anyone who dared to disagree with their pious lies!!!
-
The insurmountable amount of contradictions in the bible. (Holey
Babble?) All the praying and rationalizing in the world isn't
going to make this severe problem go away. Christians can apologize
all they want, but when you take two verses that are talking
about the exact same thing, and the verses flatly contradict
each other, then you've got a real problem.
- The brutal
and bloody history of Christianity. Christians, bastards that
they are, decided for the whole world that their religion was
the only valid one and decided that all others were wrong.
Millions of people have suffered unspeakable tortures and death
at the hands of this religion. (I shudder to think that people
like Pat Robertson and the Christian Coalition want to make
America a "Christian Nation". They have way too much
power and influence in our government. All I can say to my
fellow Americans is: WATCH OUT! We don't need to let them in
our government.)
- The fact that most of the stories
in the bible are nothing more than amalgamations and plagiarisms
of much older pagan religons. The creation story is not unique,
The Flood Story was plagiarized from the Epic of Gilgamesh,
Levitical Law had nothing to do with the bible or god, but was
stolen form the Code of Hammurabi. Also, the idea of a savior
being born of a virgin to "save" mankind from their
sins is not unique either. There were dozens of other crucified
virgin-born saviors. Of course, the church has done an excellent
job of suppressing this important information from people.
They are afraid that people will find out the truth.
All I can say is that I sincerely detest Christianity and
wish to see it destroyed. Maybe I shouldn't be this way but
I can't help it.
I'm now a happy heretic. I'm an
atheist because I see no evidence whatsoever of God or gods.Details
