As a child growing up, I saw nothing, heard nothing else, and knew nothing else but the Christian way of life. I was thoroughly indoctrinated; thoroughly brainwashed. Everything revolved around the church.
I lived and breathed my faith. I thought I was "saved" and thought I was happy. All through most of my adult life, I never gave it any thought; I just accepted what I was told. Looking back, the words "The Truth Shall set you free" echo's in my mind.......
They were right. The truth about Christianity set me free!
Reading the history of christianity; reading about other religions and mythical stories and gods, and REALLY reading ALL of the Bible, plus Thomas Paine's "The Age of Reason" brought me out of the dark ages, and there was no going back to lies, deception and mind control.
I'm 59 now, and feel like I am just getting started in life. It is a whole new exciting world. I am truly free. Being free of guilt and superstition makes me happier than I ever could have imagined before. I'm proud to wear the atheist label!
