<<prev From Missionary Bible Translator to Agnostic next>>
My full story is available at my homepage. Briefly, I grew up the son of missionary parents in Africa, felt I had an intense personal relationship with Jesus, became a missionary Bible translator in Africa, and returned in 2000 as a result of my inability to continue accepting the divine inspiration of the Bible. Considered myself a deist for over a year, then in 2001 or 2002 moved toward an atheistic-leaning agnosticism. All my family members are still believers, including my wife.

Recommended reading Two online resources that were especially instrumental in my deconversion were Thomas Paine's "The Age of Reason" http://www.thomaspaine.org/Archives/AOR1.html and http://www.thomaspaine.org/Archives/AOR2.html) and Robert M. Price's "Beyond Born Again" at http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/robert_price/beyond_born_again/index.shtml. The works of Robert Ingersoll led me from deism to agnosticism.
