"La Lucchese", is located in Barga, Northern Tuscany. Barga is a medieval hill town which I first visited by chance in early 1993. I was so overwhelmed with the beauty of the town and the surrounding Garfagnana valley, I decided to buy and restore "La Lucchese". Holidaying at La Lucchese gives me the experience of living like an Italian would rather than staying at a hotel.

"La Lucchese" is a unique 19th century villetta in the historical centre of town and is located in a stone paved, pedestrian-only street. I furnished La Lucchese quite simply, but with a rustic decor. The ground floor comprises a sitting room, eat-in kitchen, fireplace, pantry and laundry. There is a garden courtyard beyond the kitchen. On the first floor are two bedrooms. The main bedroom (double bed) has a balcony with a view of the 11th Century Romanesque Duomo, whilst the second bedroom (two single beds) has a view of the garden. There is also a bathroom including shower, WC, basin and bidet.

"La Lucchese" provides you with the option of eating in, cooking the delicious local produce in my fully equipped kitchen, or taking a stroll to eat out in one of the local trattoria. You also have the ability to take a break from your hectic travel itinerary and relax with a good book in the sitting room or take a walk and enjoy the atmosphere of a real Tuscan hill town. The self contained laundry enables you to catch up on the holiday washing.

Barga can be reached by car, bus or train. Pisa is the closest international airport and is about 90 minutes by car. Alternatively, Milano Linate Airport is only four hours drive away. Florence is less than two hours drive and Lucca about 50 minutes.
