FISHING

Off the jetty -cocky salmon, mullet, flathead, occasionally cod and brim.

(Crabs are best bait for brim.)

Off the shore -seaward side of jetty is best. End of Hawley Road off Edie's Point - whiting, salmon, mullet and occasionally couta. (Best bait are crabs and pilchards.)

From a boat

Seven Mile Beach -flathead and whiting. Off Carbuncles or Spy Island and in the Estuary -flathead, cod, salmon

Rubicon River up to the Frankford Road - should have brim.

Spearing -flounder on all sand flats.

Wander through the sculpture garden and experience the uniquely designed Celtic Herb Garden depicting nine generations of Cheyne's Tasmanian history.

NARA WNTAPU NATIONAL PARK Accessible from Frankford Main Road (locally known as the Exeter Highway) or by boat. Throughout summer, an excellent Summer Activities Program is conducted that is suitable for all ages to attend. The Ranger can be contacted on 6428 6277.
PANATANA PADDLING POOL Comer of South Esplanade and Port Street, Port Sorell. The paddling pool in this reserve is very popular with young children as is the playground. Picnic tables are available including a special size one for children.

PENGUIN ISLAND .THE SISTERS Accessible at low tide from Port Sorell. Part of the Narawntapu National Park. No dogs allowed. STRONG RIPS OCCUR AROUND THE ISLAND.

PLAYGROUND Adjacent to Port Sorell Lions Caravan Park at rear of Port Sorell Memorial Hall. Fenced playground for under 8's; open area of play
equipment for older children. Public toilets nearby.

POINT SORELL W ALK Situated on the northern end of Hawley Beach Clear track, level terrain, "user friendly". Penguin rookery -

PORT SORELL CONSERV A TION AREA (70 HA) Covers the coastal reserve on both sides of Panatana Rivulet (Muddy Creek)
and has an abundance of flora and fauna. Enter from across footbridge at Park Esplanade, Port Sorell or take a guided tour with
Rubicon Coast and Landcare -phone 6428 6072.


RABBIT ISLAND Accessible at low tide from Port Sorell / Squeaking Point. In 1835 the island was the "hide out"
for bushrangers Brown and Jefkins Part of the Narawntapu National Park.
