Musicians needed for Musical Theatre Production The following musicians are required for a production of Rock Nativity: - Pianist - Guitarist - Bass guitarist - Drum kit Instruments other than piano will need to provide their own instruments and amplification. The show is being performed at the Brisbane Arts Theatre in late November and December. The run includes daytime performances. The show contains a lot of fun music of different styles from classical to jazz to soul/gospel. We currently also require a rehearsal pianist. Rehearsals are Monday and Wednesday nights and during the day on Sunday. It would be preferable for the rehearsal pianist to also be the show pianist. These positions are unpaid but brilliant experience, and the theatre can provide documentation should uni students wish to claim it as credit towards a course. Paisley Lane, whose focus is artistic quality and distinction, has a repertoire that cover’s Swing, Gospel, Christmas Repertoire, Jazz Standards, Music Theatre, Classical and Popular Favorites. The ensemble performs in a cappella concert style and accompanied cabaret style. Artistic and Music Director, Loxlea-Danann has also personally composed a section of original material for the group. Paisley Lane performs in Theatre Shows, Cabarets, Concerts, Weddings, Special Occasions, Functions, Festivals, Fairs, and Corporate Events. Musicians Wanted The Groove Concert Band is currently seeking new members for the 2008 year. We are looking for musicians that play concert band instruments, aged between 10 – 25 years. Scriptwriter Required Scriptwriter needed to take co-writer role on either or both of the following productions to be produced in Brisbane from 2008-2009. * Project One: A new musical play set in the psychedelic late '60s about a quirky band and their formation. Includes flashbacks from present day. Using a pre-existing catalogue of music, looking for writer to weave together a story of which the basic framework has been realised. Preferably someone familiar with the period in which the show is set, and the style of such musicals as Mamma Mia and We Will Rock You ('jukebox musical'). * Project Two: A new musical play set in a courtroom in which the facts of a murder mystery are revealed via re-enacted flashbacks. Using a pre-existing catalogue of music, looking for a writer to develop a more coherent script from an existing first draft and take it to the next level. Preferably someone familiar with the styles of such musicals as Mamma Mia and We Will Rock You ('jukebox musicals'). A dark musical, even black comedy. Choral Conductor Required Are you an experienced choral conductor with a burning desire to conduct a new and dynamic community choir? Do you want to gain more experience working with a positive and willing group of emerging choristers? If so.. We need you! Access Arts Community Choir is seeking an experienced co-facilitator/choral conductor to lead the choir and mentor a co-facilitator. People who are interested in this position should have a significant experience in choral singing and conducting. You will need to rehearse a range of contrasting repertoire, be open minded, be comfortable working with people who experience a disability or disadvantage and have fun! About the Choir The Access Arts Community Choir was formed in 2007 in response to community need. Supported by Access Arts, the choir is inclusive of people experiencing disability and disadvantage. Rehearsals will commence in February and are held on Saturdays from 1:30-3:30 PM at New Farm. (Venue to be advised.)
