The play is a murder mystery with songs Directed by Nancy Cox-Millner. Brisbane Arts Theatre, 210 Petrie Tce, Brisbane. The original, funny, nunny musical written by Dan Goggin is re-visiting Arts Theatre!! Directed by - Leo Bradley. This award winning play tells the story of a disaster that befalls a nunnery!! Sister Julia - Child of God - cooked dinner - and caused the demise of half the convent! Unfortunately, Sister Mary Regina has bought a new plasma screen, surround sound and DVD player so there aren't quite enough funds to bury ALL the sisters. What to do?? A little concert should raise the funds needed - before the Board of Health find out that those last, unburied nuns are resting in the kitchen freezer. This play is a delightful romp, filled with songs, dances, and even a few 'silly bits'. Brisbane Arts Theatre, 210 Petrie Tce, Brisbane. Directed by Susan O'Toole. Musical Director - Emily Klapper. Vocal Coach - Shane Daly. This play places strong influence on the music involved and therefore there are opportunities in the production to be a part of an ensemble choir, or there are several major roles. The auditions will be split into two different groups * Audition One : 10.00am - Midday. No appointment required. Choir/Chorus roles only. Ages 10 to Adult. A musical theatre song, no a capella, approx 2 minutes long, that shows your range and ability. Please provide backing track or sheet music, no sing alongs please. You will be required to perform your solo piece in the audition and sing in a group. There will be considerable harmony singing. * Audition Two : 1.30pm - 4.30pm. No appointment required Lead/Speaking Roles/Solo Songs. Ages 14 to Adult. A musical theatre song, no a capella, approx 2 minutes long, that shows your range and ability. Please provide backing track or sheet music, no sing alongs please. Be prepared to do scales to ascertain your range. Ability to read music an advantage but not essential. All actors are required to sing. There will be considerable harmony singing. Cold reads from the script will be done after the singing audition is finished. Must be available to rehearse Monday, Wednesday evenings and Sundays, (there is also one Saturday rehearsal before Tech period). Impressionable, and by turns optimistic and depressed, she grows in confidence as the play concludes. She probably wears a ponytail. * MARGE, A tough cookie. Larger than life, brassy red head with a sharp tongue and a heart of gold. Flashy dresser. Probably in a sexy top, capris and high heels. * DEE DEE (17-40) Perky and overly enthusiastic, eternal optimist. Fairly manic cross between Sandra Dee and "That Girl". Means well but is liable to wreak havoc at any given time. A big flip hair-do. Typically 60's pointy bra (at one point is referred to as "bullet bra"). Should have a lovely, slightly dressy, very well put-together look (a well dressed Connie Francis). *MR. POSTMAN WASHER REPAIRMAN/ MRS.HALO/ MR.RIGHT/ MILT DUDMAN/ JOHNNY ANGEL (1 x Male, aged 20-40) Requirements: 32 bars of a Contemporary Musical Theatre number (telling a story) as well as cold readings from the script.
