2AD covers the southern end of the New England region of Northern NSW, with a service area in excess of 36,000 people, including the main centres of Armidale, Guyra, Uralla and Walcha.

The New England region is a rich rural area, renowned for its superfine wool, fat lambs and cattle, with specialist breeding facilities and headquarters for a number of breed societies.

Armidale is a centre for learning, with private schools - The Armidale School, New England Girls School, Presbyterian Ladies College and the University of New England catering to over 2,500 internal students and over 6,000 external students from all parts of Australia and overseas. The city also provides agricultural and business management and training services to clients around Australia.

Armidale is leading the field in the commercialisation of technology - through animal breeding systems, computer software, electronic agriculture devices, pharmaceutical and animal health products.

Armidale is 1,000 metres above sea level, with a temperate climate, Summer 127-277 and Winter 07-147. The city is strategically positioned on the New England Highway, almost halfway between Sydney and Brisbane and within easy reach of Coffs Harbour and the Mid North Coast.
