MUSICIANS' HEADQUARTERS 2003,
FIVE YEARS OLD AND STILL KICKIN'
Since kicking off in 1999, after answering a demand from Festival street performers, Tamworth Festival Musicians' Headquarters celebrates five years of existence at Tamworth's Country Music Festival 2003.

UNE Peel House, (next to Tamworth Town Hall and opposite Tamworth Post Office) will once again house the Musicians' Headquarters following the successful dual involvement in Tamworth Country Music Festival 2002.

This time around the Musicians' Headquarters, sponsored by Marsh Insurance, features a free admission Music, Health and Lifestyle Expo at the front of UNE Peel House and the industry based Musicians' Headquarters at the rear with seminars, workshops, musos' storage room, media interview room, rehearsal facilities and the usual R 'n' R area. For the price of four cups of tea or coffee, musos and music industry people can use the Musicians' Headquarters as a base and air-conditioned sanctuary for the six prime days of the Festival.

In 2003 the Musicians' Headquarters is honoured to have MusicOz Challenge on board with an information site on this fantastic initiative for musically inclined young people in all major musical genres. MusicOz Challenge in conjunction with Musicians' Headquarters, ICMB and The Vault will have a MusicOz Challenge showcase on The Vault stage during the Festival 2003 featuring the MusicOz country music section finalists.

The Australian Bush Balladeers Association make the Headquarters their headquarters for the third time during the Tamworth Festival with an extremely accessible location in the UNE foyer for fans and musos to access them. Rod Esam's rovers & Drovers Australiana Showcase takes place at the Musos' HQ on the forecourt during the Festival. The Rovers and Drovers Australiana Showcase is also part of the Tamworth Australia Day Concert.

The Musicians' Headquarters is looking forward to an exciting Tamworth Country Music Festival 2003 with loads of excellent outcomes.

ACMF/MULGA MUSIC LAUNCHING PAD

The Australian Country Music Foundation (ACMF) in conjunction with Mulga Music Promotions have worked together to create a new event in Tamworth during the Country Music Festival in 2003.

The event is a series of launches of independent country music products all held in the same venue.

This new FREE event called "THE LAUNCHING PAD" will run from Monday 20 to Friday 24 January with launches happening hourly from 10am to 2pm each day at the ACMF in Brisbane Street, opposite the Northern Daily Leader building and next to the Imperial Hotel.

The LAUNCHING PAD came about from the need for artists and others to achieve a Tamworth launch of their product at a venue that would do it justice. In the past record launches tended to be single one off events that often never received the promotion or patronage they deserved. To resolve this dilemma, the LAUNCHING PAD, which is to be a 5-day event, has been created.

Each product launch will be a self-contained presentation introduced by master of ceremonies, Stan Hunt a performer and recording artist in his own right. Each launch includes an introduction to the album by the artist, an example of the material on the album either live or recorded and followed by acknowledgements.

After the launch there will be time for fans to meet the artist during a photo opportunity, buy any merchandise the artist may have and have their newly purchased album autographed.

Independent artists appearing during the launch include Arthur Blanch, Stephen Cheney, Craig Byrne, Merilyn Steele, Nattasha Crestani, Owen Blundell, Ian Blundell, Reg Poole, Geoff Evans, Yvonne Bradley, J J Justin, Mary Dryden, Magnificent Seven, Tall Timbre, Cash Mountain Boys to name a few.

As well as albums being launched there will be Stan Coster’s Autobiography, "Travelling My Own Track",

The Australian Country Music CookBook, compiled by Lorraine Pfitzner and the Country Music Calendar, produced by June Underwood.

It is hoped the LAUNCHING PAD will become a regular feature where the independent artists can be assured of launching their latest albums at a venue that is suitable to them and convenient to the public and gives the exposure that such an event deserves.

Details of who is appearing and when will be listed in the Official guide and daily newspapers.

While attending the LAUNCHING PAD, country music fans should take the opportunity to visit the exhibits in the ACMF’s Country Legends exhibition. Whilst at the Launching Pad take advantage of their wide selection of other independent artists’ albums in their record shop, which provides a selection of independent Australian artists not available anywhere else in Australia.

For further details contact the ACMF on 02 6766 9696

The LAUNCHING PAD is proudly supported by Country Energy – It’s Your Country.
