Lieutenant Commander Robert Rankin, of the Royal
Australian Navy, died heroically in combat while in command of his
sloop HMAS Yarra. Despite giving his life in circumstances similar to
others - who have been deservedly recognized with the highest award
of the Victoria Cross - Rankin has not been given such recognition.
Indeed, the RAN has never won a Victoria Cross.
This website is the centre of the Rankin VC
Association, formed by those who are campaigning for the posthumous
award of the Victoria Cross for this brave officer.
