RAPPS SYSTEMS SOLAR LIGHT

The stand alone Solar light has opens up  a whole new world of lighting flexibility. The  light can be installed anywhere lighting is required, regardless of how remote the location, regardless of the availability of mains power, anywhere the sun shines. The light has been designed for winter conditions and the battery back-up provides for 5 days storage in cloudy conditions. The battery is located in the base under the pole, giving constant battery temperature.

Installation is a simple procedure using the installation manual and should take approximately 1.5 hours.

The Solar light is fully automatic and has been designed to operate for 5 hours per night. A daylight sensor is a standard feature turning the light on at dark, and running for a preset time, selectable via dip switches on the electronic controller. Be sure not to alter dip switch settings to exceed the designed operating time. The time setting has been factory preset and should not need to be altered. (If the optional time switch has been ordered refer to the set up instructions.) A low voltage cut out is a standard feature disconnecting the light if the battery voltage falls to a very low level, safeguarding the battery against permanent damage.

The electronic controller assembly is located behind the removable hatch on the side of the pole. To assist in testing the operation of the light during daylight hours a test button has been fitted. Simply press the test button quickly and upon release of the button the light will turn on. To turn off, press and hold the button for 1 second. The light will turn off when the button is released.

The Solar light utilises standard mains connected 18 watt tri-phosphor fluoro tubes and conventional 18 watt fluoro starters. Under normal operation, lamp life should be equivalent to mains supplied tubes. Always replace the starter when the tube is replaced.

Options available include:-
Vandal resistant poly-carbonate cover for the solar array
Wire cages to protect light fitting
18 watt low pressure sodium lamps
26 watt low pressure sodium lamps
 Powder coating
Heritage style pole and light fitting
 Push button operation

2 photos below show a RAPPS Solar street light installed at a Main Roads rest area in the Kilkivan Shire, Queensland. The Sealed Lead Acid battery installed in the base of the light also provides power for the Fluorescent lights installed in the amenities block. The system is timed to come on for 2 periods overnight, the first period starting when the inbuit light sensor determines when dark falls.
