Black Forest dinosaur in clearing
This is a great photo of a little “Tasmanian tiger” type of dinosaur allegedly from Germany. And what about the luck of the photographer in getting a dinosaur exactly in the middle of a picture-postcard perfect shot! The scenery in this photo is real, but the little dinosaur is not. The dinosaur has good 3-D perspective. It also has good motion blur near the end of its tail, and to a lesser extent on its leg and elsewhere. What are the points that expose it as a fraud? Well, the main point is that the photographer is facing the sun, so the side of the dinosaur we see should be a lot darker, if not in total silhouette. Yet we see shiny skin and light reflecting off the dinosaur's body on this side of the sun. There is no sign that a flash caused this light-bounce, because the light on the surrounding ground fits with the sunlight source and darkness. Also, there is a distinct shadow under the dinosaur. If the sunlight caused the shadow it would be long (because the sun is low) and coming toward us. Yet the shadow is sitting squarely under the dino. A wonderful picture — but the dinosaur is a fake.
