Bill Haldane - Clarinet
Bill took up clarinet at the age of 16, and studied classical music until he was 19
years old. He did his National service in the RAF and played in various station bands
around England. Namely the 5/6th Battalion and the Highland Light Infantry between 1960
and 1965. He transferred to the RAAF Central band in Australia in 1967. Became an in
demand instrumental teacher on saxaphone and clarinet. He also played with several big
bands around Melbourne including the Max Causin Big Band, Frank Charles and Brendon Trott
groups. He has been very active in pit work in the Geelong and Ballarat theatrical scenes.
The Grovelanders feel they are very fortunate to have such an experienced and professional
musician in the front line.
