Band Information
Formed in 1995, The 'Grovelanders Jazz Band' , so named because
some of the original members came from either the Grovedale or Ocean Grove areas in
Victoria, Australia, has found its jazz music identity through the musical background of
the musicians.
The tight dixieland style of the Grovelanders comes from a love of traditional jazz and
years of experience in big bands, brass bands, dance bands, rock and cabaret groups.
The band members still enjoy the discipline of tight arrangements but now have the freedom
of improvisation and expression. Most tunes are based on traditional arrangements but the
band likes to leave their stamp on a tune with their own arrangements.
The band has played at many and varied venues including golf clubs, bowling clubs, yacht
clubs, jazz clubs, conventions and concerts, private functions, restaurants, open-air
functions. The band performs annually at the Grampians Jazz Festival held every
February in the lovely bush surrounds of Halls Gap.
We also play at the Queenscliff Market every last Sunday of the month from
10:30am - 12:30pm from September until May
