At Moonee Valley Judo School as well as the serious job of learning judo we are about Good Healthy Fun! Along with all Judo Schools we spend a lot of time working on Throwing and Grappling but we also play a lot of Games. These are usually Judo Specific Games so the are relevant to skill development but that doesn't mean that they are not a lot of fun.

Our purpose is to develop the whole person, so we Spend time talking about personal development. Judo is a thinking persons sport and that means not just talking about tactics but also about our attitude to each other and our opponents. I loved the advertisement for the 2000 Olympics that showed a seen of Judo players approaching each other. The slogan was "You are my Opponent not my enemy". That to me epitomizes the Spirit of Judo. That is what we try to Promote at Moonee Valley Judo School.

There have been judo olympics from very early on in the modern Olympic movement. The art or Judo Kata is widely taught in the Judo Club and is the basis of judo self defense and childrens martial arts classes.

We teach principles from the Protective Behaviors Program. This along with Judo principals provides the tools to avoid conflict as well as confidence and ability to control situations or defend if necessary.
