Yes, any drug has it's adverse affects but the government is out of control and lost it's mind. we have returned to alcohol prohibition and you can't say this isn't so. So maybe you were a chronic smoker for three years, what do you want, a cookie? I am 24 and have been a smoker since i was 14. I hold a steady job, am dependent on myself, and create fantastic art while high. My use is different from yours as it is different from Joe Blow's. Tell me how pot is worse than alcohol, tobacco, ritalin, prozac, tylenol or any other legal drug and I will be quiet. Just because you were unable to control your own bodily functions and use the herb responsibly does not mean others should suffer. Get a clue you ADD bastard!

I wasn't going to answer your email at all initially for the reason that you simply hadn't heard a thing I said. I didn't say that dope should be banned as you imply. I didn't say dope was worse than alcohol, as you imply. The fact that I didn't like the drug didn't mean I couldn't handle it. But then I realised that perhaps you didn't hear me precisely because you are quite defensive and have difficulty accepting a reasoned argument, about a drug that is such an important part of your life.

But tell me this, if you create fantastic art while high, it must be more fantastic than when you are not high. But if the drugs are so important to the artistic motivation, isn't it the drug which is creative and not you? Where are you as an artist without dope in your system? Or what sort of art, if any, would you create as a person free from mind altering substances?

M. Ageyev, Novel with Cocaine:

"Before I came in contact with cocaine I assumed that happiness was an entity, while in fact all human happiness consists of a clever fusion of two elements: (1) the physical feeling of happiness, and (2) the external event providing the psychic impetus for that feeling.": 151.
He goes on to explain that cocaine short-circuits the relationship or dependence on reality to achieve the happy state of mind.

Listen, all i know is that this is kind of crazy! I am working on a major paper for psyc and it happens to be on marijuana. I am gettin really tired of all the advocates and their opinons! I have had to read the pro weeders and the No No just say no pack of wolves, I am gettin really tired of having to search through the lies and would like to be able to just get some facts. I am just writing this to express my point that there is way to much energy, wasted fighting over who's right. It's up to the individual!.....Thank u for your time.

All things said, do you still believe that marijuana is worse, or even as bad as alcohol, or even tobacco? What is stupid is that no matter what the long term results of use are, the illegalization of marijuana makes no sense in light of the legalization of alcohol and tobacco, both of which have far greater documented adverse results than weed. In addition, the "War on Drugs" budget is allocated almost 90% of it's spending to prevention of marijuana....and it is still easier for a kid to buy a dime bag at high school than it is for them to get a pack of cigarettes! Wouldn't that money be better spent preventing drugs with far far greater dangers than short term memory loss over a period of three years?

I don't advocate excessive use of anything other than self love and spiritual awareness. I am a big believer in clean mind, clean body, and clean spirit. I don't claim to be perfect, I have partaken in all three of the above, and I think they all have thier dangers and advantages....but don't you think it is ridiculous to have people sitting in jail on possession charges when OJ is playing golf?

I think there is some inequity there. Don't you?

This sounds crazy but I was working in a company with lots of people in it and I look like a bit of a hippy intellectual I guess. I had people come up to me on two ocassions and ask me about marijuana. It was these middle aged mums who wanted to know what I knew about marijuana and whether I thought it was dangerous or whether I took it. Which I used to do. They were worried because their sons were taking it and they'd gone kind of weird ever since. I don't know what to say to them but I know I'm glad I got over it. Basically it's almost a thing you can't stop people from taking.

I used to think that dope wasn't addictive because that's what everyone just assumed. We just took it because we enjoyed it but it was only when I started worrying about my memory of the past few years that I questioned this drug. I thought that I probably should stop but was almost scared to do it. Recently I have tried to not smoke or cut back and I just get pressured into it all the time. But I am having problems with the willpower. It's almost like I don't know what would happen to me if I did stop.
