From: "allycat" ally@coopernet.clara.co.uk Date: Tue, 15 May 2001 Hi, I think your site is very interesting and raises some very valid questions and issues which we should all be seriously thinking about. I for one hate the 'battle between the sexes' and I wonder why men and women don't try to work things out instead of acting hostile toward one another. I'm in my final year at Leicester University in England and I'm currently working on a dissertation about masculinity in four of Clint Eastwood's films - Dirty Harry, Tightrope, Unforgiven and The Bridges of Madison County, so all of these issues interest me immensely. I was particularly interested by your article on Eastwood and Dirty Harry. Some critics believe that Dirty Harry was a backlash against feminism - well, it's debatable, but since the dawn of the film industry, haven't most men been acting tough in films, with women taking minor roles? Your comment 'Clint Eastwood has virtually played the same role throughout most of his career' is true to an extent but I think Clint is a prime example of an actor who has changed the image of masculinity over the years...he's tough and uncompromising in DH but just look at him in Bridges...(and here's a direct quote from my dissertation): he gives us a more modern concept of what it means to be a man, and dispells the myth that men cannot be both physically strong and understanding at the same time. Eastwood embodies this new version of masculinity in his belief that a man can be confident in himself and his masculinity without having to resort to violence or verbal insults in order to assert himself. At the same time, I don't entirely agree with the 'aggressiveness' of the feminist movement. There's no way I would take offence if a man wanted to open the door for me - I'd be grateful, and see it as good manners rather than patronising. Chance would be a fine thing though, considering how rude a lot of the people can be that you meet on the streets! I can see how men might feel threatened by women's growing independence, but it's been coming for a long time - and I don't see why men and women can't live side by side, without sexism, resentment, and one side having to be dominant and the other submissive. There's a place for us all in society, so why can't men and women both be at the top?
From: opt4nettie@yahoo.com Date: Wed, 9 May 2001 I cannot believe that you actually have a website! That is so amazing! You have been saying what I've been thinking for so long!I think feminism is morally wrong and offends God. Women (notice the true, CHRISTIAN, spelling of the word) need to realize that they deserve oppression and hardship because they are the carriers of The Original Sin. If these Liberal trouble-makers don't believe me,they can just read their Bible! I think you should be made president! We need to abolish feminism and lesbians that are ruining this world. I think every logical American is thinking this, but is too "politically correct" to say so. I am a very proud house-wife, and I know that is what God put me on earth to do. It was done before I was borne, and it will be done after I die. Those Feminazis will burn in hell for not shaving their legs and saying that they are equal to men. They sleep with women and advocate men to sleep with other men! That is wrong and so is their mixing of the races. I'm not a bigot, I've got several black friends, but I think they have no place being with whites and I hope you attack this next because you seem to be the only one who's not afraid of those God-less Liberals and their "politically correct" ways. If not for them, our world would still be wonderful with everyone knowing their place and being proud of it. We could still have prayer in school and not have a bunch of (let's just say it, screw "political correctness"!) QUEER FAGGOTS teaching our kids to give each other masturbation and smoke acid. Thank God you came along and this country can get back on the Right track. I think you must be an angel sent from Jesus to protect Christians like me from the horrors of life in the evil Liberal "Politically Correct" age. I will be glad when this country is back on track and we know women are women and men are men! I hope you have other sites supporting my beliefs I could visit(?). You are a treasure!
Sincerly, Nettle Penelope Dahwen,

Just a word to say I love the site ... keep up the good work! Unpopular viewpoints need more exposure; I'll link to ya (not
that I get any traffic). Funny and informative. I'm sure you
get some fan mail among the hate mail, but the more the better,
I say!
