SEXUAL POWER PERSONIFESTO

This is a manifesto, divided into 4 parts, on sexual power in modern society. The site currently only has Part I: the examination of the dominant feminist perspective on male and female power. Eventually the site may include pages providing suggestions about how men in particular might respond to this ideology in a strategic and personal way. A study is also anticipated on the subject of female sexuality and how feminism has influenced existing myths and realities about female behaviour and power.

The manifesto is a work in progress. It is being updated to take into account changes in my own outlook and a more coherent set of stages for making responses to the challenges facing personal and collective development in the current age. For this reason you will find that there may be some errors in the text or poor continuity in parts.

PART I: Feminism and the men's movement

This text was previously directed toward men and their relationship to feminism. It had been altered substantially with the addition of material on men and women. This will allow a much wider set of issues to be addressed. This is the only section currently completed.

PART II: Creation of the original civilisation male
(to be constructed)

An impending discussion of the myths and expectations created in modern societies about what is male and masculine. It will include a critique of the problems faced by men in emulating the ideal and efforts to fake the masculine persona. This discussion forms the basis for analysing the way males are being channelled into new identities in modern societies that incorporate feminist prescriptions, social necessities, social chaos and male personal development in the context of existing cultural forms.

PART III: The new man (to be constructed)

In a number of societies there is periodically a discussion for the creation of a new model of male ideal. Every society has male and female ideals. Usually there are a number of ideals which are created through the actions of the media, parents and peer group pressure. This discussion considers the political and social imperatives that might be incorporated in male identity. Essentially it is an effort to include an intellectual basis for the progressive change of male identity.

PART IV: Something about Mary (to be contructed)

According to feminism women were oppressed and yet are making great strides toward liberation and social equality. But is it really so simple? Does social and cultural equality in wages or some other measure mean that women are now normal and equal to men or in fact more well-adjusted than men?

As argued here, men have never been the overlord sex and so using the male as benchmark for normality is highly flawed. But more specifically, feminism has only provided a very limited perspective on female sexuality which has contributed to a skewing of the female psyche. It is suggested here that in many respects the female sex is by no means more equal or balanced today. Arguably we can find significant flaws and peculiarities in female sexuality and ongoing issues that need to be rseolved both at the collective and individual level.

The discussion of all the topics above is addressed to any men and women who are interested in the future of sexual relations and development of the sexes. It is important to understand sexual power because ignorance and myth about this essential part of life may come between you and the fulfilment of your goals. Your desire to establish and maintain a viable sexual social life - in the midst of turbulent times - is a fundamental feature of a good life.

The essay is currently undergoing periodic development. This version amended January 1999.
