THINGS I HAVE LEARNED

I have added this page to my site because as we get to know Smokey more I’m not sure who is learning from who.

1.  I have never known an animal whose body clock is better than any alarm clock I have ever owned.

2.  If you change their routine expect some complaints. I learnt this the first time I took Smokey for a walk and changed the way we normally go. He looked at me with a really confused look in his eyes.

3. Smokey will eat chicken necks and chicken wings without a problem but I made the mistake of changing them to Turkey necks and wings one night and I actually had to cut them up before he would eat them. Of course I have since learnt to say you eat them as they are or go without. ( Yeah right )

4. Even though Smokey has his own bed, lounge and quilt I now put things on our lounge at night. In the first few weeks I walked into the lounge room and saw him sheepishly climbing down from our good lounge suite.

5. We are currently landscaping our backyard and have put down new lawn. Smokey is enjoying it so much that he will still find a patch of dirt to go to the toilet instead of messing up the new lawn. What a clever boy we have.

6. I love the way he talks to me, especially on a Sunday morning when he want’s to go for a walk at 7 in the morning. I tell him to go and lay on his bed until I’m ready ( at about 8.30 ) and he goes to his bed and lays down but he moan’s and sigh’s really loudly. He does the same when friends come over with small children that are afraid of dogs and I have to put him outside for a short while. He actually moans when I tell him to go outside for a while.

7.  Smokey has now owned us for 7 months and I finally thought I would take the things off our good lounge suite, you know seeing as he has his own bed and should be in a routine of only sleeping on his things.  Wrong!! Our lovable cheeky boy was caught napping on the good louge once again and I had only left the room for a few minutes to update his website. I wish I’d had the camera in my hands at the time.
