New Bits and Pieces

Found a few new toys in china on last visit ( dec06 till march 07). It will take some time for me to put detailed pics/info on website, but here is list of most of the new bits and pieces I’ve come across.

1.     Controllers:

A. Brushed motor controllers:

36v 90amp

48v 100amp

60v 110amp

$60aud each

Only for brushed motors, they have two wires for motor, two wires for battery and three wires for throttle, that’s it, nothing fancy.

B. Same as above but with brake cut off switch wires and a few other wires ( still have to find out what the other wires are for , probably brake light and speedometer ).

Price : $75aud

C. getting some brushless controllers made with variable switch for low voltage cut off and variable switch for maximum amps, probably another month or so till they will be tested and ready. They wont have regen braking .

D. some brushed controllers for 24v or 36v with 30 or 40amps max. With reverse function/ reverse light wires/ and brake light wires/ also power on light wires.

E. some brushed controllers for 48v with brake light wires and power on wires ( no reverse available as yet).

F. getting a meter made similar to drain brain maybe another month or so till ready, price should be about half of drainbrain price.

2.     Motors:

  1. have sourced some geared motors

Same motor as used on elation and epac bikes, also sold by oately electronics, have got 24v and 36v versions of that one. Price same as oately electronics $80aud plus freight (shown as the small motor in the picture below ) .
Also some more powerful motors which are brushed and geared similar to oately but larger, medium sized below is 36volt, large sized is 48volts.

The small motor and medium sized motors are suitable for chain drive systems for bicycles, some more info on a kit to go with these motors is available here

B. Have sourced some non hub motors, non geared with drive cog to suit motorbike chain, range from 36v up to 60v, very powerful motors. Price: approx: $300aud and freight. more info

3.     Headlight/voltmeter/horn units.

Sourced some small headlight units with led voltmeter for battery voltage and horn which are quite inexpensive ( $15aud )

24v, 36v and 48v. Made for mounting on handlebars.

4.     Rims/tyres:

A. dual wall aluminium rims, quite wide and strong , 32mm width, in 20” and 26”   sizes.

B. some 16” and 18” aluminium rims, very wide about 50mm or so wide, using a standard tyre on them will give a very low profile tyre.

C. some very  heavy duty rims and tyres, steel rims. Tyres seem to last a very long time compared to ones sold in Australia, they are used on heavy trikes in china.

  1. Dashboard Units and lights (front/rear ), some very nice small dashboards , usually analog type, with some leds for left/right blinkers etc. One series has analog ammeter which goes with regen type controller and shows amps motor uses and regen amps created.

The ones with speedometer work off the controller, most controllers have a wire for speedometer output.

Price: $60aud and freight

Found quite a variety of front and rear lights, prices not determined yet, probably around $30aud

6.     Relays:

 specs not sure of yet

7.     Chargers and Desulphators:

Have sourced some new chargers, the ones I presently sell are commonly used in china for ebikes

  1. a charger with leds for battery voltage  price $80aud  also a summer/winter charger $60aud  both for sla agm batteries.
  2. Desulphator units for 24v, 36v and 48v sla agm batteries. A small box which attaches to batteries which are loosing their capacity, gives out a certain frequency pulse which is designed to remove sulphate deposits in batteries and restore their capacity, will only work on sla agm type batteries and ones that aren’t completely knackered. $65aud
  3. A charger with desulphator built into it,  for 24v , 36v and 48v sla agm type batteries  (being tested )

    8. Connectors

Am starting to get a bit of a collection of different types of connectors, will put them up on website site as time permits too numerous type to mention here.

    9. Battery Boxes

theres quite a few different ones available about $20aud each (plus freight).

      10. Large Electric Trikes

There are a number of large trikes suitable for use as off road vehicles.  At the moment none of these vehicles would be able to be used on roads in Australia and not likely would be able to be used in other countries on roads, so would be off road only.

Heres a few pics of the trikes available:

A.      E-Taxi:
This one has a fibreglass shell which is similar to the german made velotaxis, the trike has significant improvements on the german model and about 1/3 the price,
Improvements are: front rear suspension, no pedals ( pedal version can also be produced ), significantly higher power and range. As far as I'm aware the german velotaxi design was patented in Europe only so should be no problems using these outside of Europe.
Suitable for offroad use only, designed for transporting two passengers in the back seat. Price: . Price: $4,500aud plus freight ( compare with german velotaxi price of $13,500aud excluding freight from germany )

B.     Farm Electric Vehicles:
There are numerous heavy duty trikes available from China, they have evolved over the last 10years or so into a very reliable and robust vehicles.
There are quite a few different versions available and would only suit offroad use, probably as farm vehicles would be one good use for them.
Both styles shown below are electric powered, the one on the left the tray tips, the one on the right has pedals though you would never use them!!
Price: vehicle below on left $5,000aud plus freight,  vehicle on right below $3,500aud plus freight.
