Born 1/1/2007 - Piney Range Red X - chestnut colt by SC Red Jewel (pic left) out of SC Anastasia (arab x standardbred)

This little guy is a very smart mover and great rear socks!

 

At last a foal from Aloha Zamia (x Aloha Zar). An anglo filly by SC Red Jewel, born 29/12/2006.

Named SC Red Vogue.

Zamia is locked up so she doesn't take this little jewel to the other end of the property.

 

 

 

Still steaming! Born 9am. 18/12/06
SC Titan (Hyksos Benjamin x Aloha Royal Lady), anglo colt. Front tendons were a little contracted so walked like a Thunderbird for a day or two.

Born 17/12/06. SC Chutzpah - a 3/4 arab grey colt by Hyksos Benjamin out of Omani Stylist. Very similar in his outlook on the world to his 3/4 brother SC Provocative - chasing me with the feed wheel barrow at 24hrs of age and trying to nip me. Chutzpah is a word I heard a politician use that sent me scuttling for my dictionary. It means 'shameless audacity, cheek'.

 

Introducing!

Piney Range Red Diamond. A bay filly born 12/12/06. The first foal of SC Red Jewel (anglo byCudglebar Raksha) and the first foal born under the Piney Range prefix.

Out of standardbred mare Claire, this filly is exactly the type I had in mind when I registered the Piney Range prefix.

     

(Just wanted to show you there's no chrome on my lips!)

 

A long awaited arrival. A little colt by Hyksos Benjamin out of my bottle reared mare SC Juliet.

She broke the rules of 'heavily pregnant mares don't lie flat out', night after night with false alarms.

'Romeo' was born on 5 December and sadly left me 4 days later due to complications stemming from dehydration.

That night as I lifted his little body into the back of my ute, I couldn't get out of my head a version of that song 'my mamma never told me there'd be days like this...'
     

 
     
Another Hyksos Benjamin baby hits the ground, this pretty girl owned by Lisa Beckinsale VIC out of her yellow book mare Jamar Lodge M'Kaila.

Lisa reports that picking a name is harder than naming her own first baby. But stay tuned... I'm sure she'll let us know soon.

This little girl born 27/9/06. 'Christaarn Zemirah' aka 'Indy'. (Hyksos Benjamin x Damazaylia) Owned by Tina Camm. Keenly awaited from Tina's maiden mare - didn't spring an udder until the last minute but we can't say she's not punctual, foaling close to her due date!
A nice varied experience for Tina who now knows more about foals that are slow to drink, cholostrum, retained after births and the cost of vets and plasma infusion...

Born 18/9/06 - SC Nemo (pend), a bay colt from 'Yuri' (Cudglebar Manak x Cudglebar Rebecca) by Hyksos Benjamin (Cudglebar Rasuli exp NZ x Hyksos Trysting exp NZ). This little guy has had me on tenterhooks for the last month after his mum (who lost a premmie foal last time) started seriously bagging up 7 weeks before her due date.

I also learnt a valuable (and somewhat embarassing) lesson about batteries and foaling alarms...less said the better...well I had a good night's sleep...and all's well that umm ends well...

 

And while 'Yuri' stood waxed up and sporting my new foaling alarm in the adjoining paddock, imagine my surprise when I went to feed SC Vienna, last, at 9pm last night to see an extra set of legs through the weldmesh in the torch light!

Meet SC Chester, a colt by Kala's Image (TB). Born 12/9/06. I hope his endurance career attacts more attention than his arrival!

 

At long last, my first colonial filly born in 4 years. SC Shalamar (pend) a chestnut(?) filly by Hyksos Benjamin (x Cudglebar Rasuli exp NZ) out of Cudglebar Mujeor (by Cudglebar Es Sahra out of a Helicon [Sala] mare).
