Splitters Creek Fortitude (pedigree)
Cudglebar Manak (pedigree) x Omani Stylist (pedigree)

Grey anglo stallion 3/4 arab (gelded)
9/3/2000

Fortitude was born 9/3/2000 on agistment in Albury, before I purchased my farm at Walbundrie. I should have called him 'Lucky' as he was lucky to be conceived. His mum, Omani Stylist had been at Cudglebar stud for some months for service to Cudglebar Manak. Thought to be in foal, she was brought into the yards to be trucked home and showed in season. Les put her to Manak the day before she came home, and above is the result.

The first Splitters Creek foal.
Fortitude at 20 months, moments before serving his first mare, the standardbred SC Claire, for resulting foal SC Bundy.

Above right, a young stallion during the 2003 drought. The foals resulting from his 1st stud season were:

SC Xena
SC Bundy
SC Merlin

2nd season foals were:
SC Maggie
SC Courage
SC Crackerjack
SC Uptown Girl

3rd and final season:
SC Bubblegum
SC Crystal
SC Mercedes
SC Saab
SC Brontie
SC La Creme
Bakiir
SC Archer Finale

Fortitude was reluctantly gelded after the stud season as a 4 year old.

Fortitude left for Equitrans Endurance to the next stage of his career in Spring 2005. It was a strange feeling watching the red lights of the truck fade into the dark...

Dean Stephen's comments after his first 40k ride:

Fortitude handled his first outing really well. He behaved well at the preride vetting and ate and drank well at base. He behaved well at the start amongst 61 other horses. As our time suggests we took it pretty easy.

He showed willingness to travel all day and he developed quite a competitive attitude. He always wanted to be at the front of the group and was quite willing to leave that group to catch the next. He has good paces and an excellent walk which I really like in a horse.

Overall he performed very well and I was extremely happy with him.
